Mosaic Tile Craft Design

Making a mosaic tile design is a craft that allows for personal creativity and expression. The interesting patterns and colors of these items can be broken into pieces, rebuild by your ideas, and formed into a new picture.

Prepared all necessary materials

Its important to collect all materials together before your start to the whole project. You can finish the art design with help of nipper,grout,sponge,sponge trowel,glue,colorful mosaics pieces,etc.Please make sure that you have enough glass mosaic materials to finish the project, it will be very difficult to match color from different sets ,when you are running out of any items.

Design

If this is your first attempt at mosaic, simpler designs are better.Choose a design pattern such as a checkerboard or a star burst and a color scheme. Examine the basic patterns being used. Anything from geometric shapes to kitchen-themed items such as an apple can be incorporated into a custom mosaic table. Try tracing multiple designs on a sheet of paper and coloring them in to decide which you like best.  

Setting the mosaic tile

Once you have a design sketched out on paper, apply it the tabletop, first as a vague outline and then with tiles. You can do this by drawing intersecting lines with a ruler to make sure to center your design correctly.

Once it is time to start applying the tiles, focus first on any detailed areas, such as those you sketched out. Only proceed to the background once you have all details and borders in place. 

This technique of detail work first ensures that all patterns look fully incorporated into the larger mosaic.

Filling and cleaning

Mortar is the most common choice for attaching tiles, but for small projects like these, a glue gun is an easier alternative. Simply place a large dab of glue where you're setting the tile and press the tile into it. After all the tiles have been set, use grout to fill in the gaps between the tiles.Spread the gout liberally over the entire surface, until you can no longer see the tiles; then use sponge trowel to spread it evenly.

Epoxy grout is the easiest and least messy choice for small projects. 

Wait about 10 minutes for the grout to set up a little, then wipe off any extra grout with a damp sponge. Use a dry towel to polish the tiles. It takes about 24 hours for grout to completely dry, so set your project somewhere safe until then.

How to Install Ceramic Floor Tile

Now, with the expanding cost of labor, more and more people would like to install tile by themselves to avoid the expensive tile-laying service. Here we would like to tell you how to install ceramic

tile on floor using Colorbuilding tile adhesive and grout.

Instructions

First, be certain the area getting the tile is clean and free from dust. Starting in the center of the room requires a reference point. 

Second, measure the tile from corner to corner and mark the lines on the floor accordingly. This is to center the first tile.

Third, mix mortar that can be used in a short amount of time. Trowel the mortar onto the floor and set the first tile. Remember to put tile spacers to separate the rest of the tiles as you lay them. 

Fourth, after setting all the tiles on the floor, allow 24 hours before applying the grout. Mix the grout according to the instructions on the material. Force grout into the grout lines created by the spacers with the grout trowel. Again, just mix enough grout that will be used up only on an area before it has a chance to cure.

Fifth, once an area is grouted, clean the excess up with a damp sponge wringing it often. When grout dries to a haze, polish it with a soft cloth until it is clean and no haze. Wait at least 3 days before stepping on it.

Coverings 2014--Colorbuilding

Coverings is one of the biggest industry annual exhibitions for tile & stone, it is held in three cities ( Las vegas, Orlando,Atlanta ) in turn year by year to spread the influence on the whole America market. This is the first time we Colorbuilding attends Coverings as an exhibitor (booth number: 2170).

The visitors are not as many as we expected. It is obvious that the quantity of visitors is less than last year in Atlanta.

Mosaic plays an important role in this exhibition. This is different as past years. Products with unique designs or new idea attract more attentions. Clients are tired of copy or old designs. They are prone to new designs and fashionable elements.  

In Coverings 2014, we display mosaic which was grouted with our new product epoxy grout as well as tile adhesive which is connected with our main product tile and mosaic. We believe that relevant products can bring big benefit in the coming years.  

We do get precious experience from this exhibition and have more confidence in exhibition next year. We will do a better job at Coverings 2015, see you in Orlando!
